Frequently Asked Questions — Shimla Manali Tour

The best route from Dindigul is to fly from Madurai Airport (IXM, 65 km) or Trichy Airport (TRZ, 100 km) to Chandigarh Airport (IXC) via connecting flights through Chennai or Delhi. Flight time is approximately 3–5 hours including layover. From Chandigarh, our private A/C vehicle takes you to Shimla (115 km, ~4 hours) through scenic mountain roads. Rengha Holidays provides doorstep pickup from Dindigul to the airport and handles all logistics. The Kullu-Manali Airport (KUU) at Bhuntar also has limited flights from Delhi.

Shimla and Manali are beautiful year-round! For snowfall experience, visit December to February (temperatures -5°C to 10°C) — perfect for South Indians seeing snow for the first time. March to June is the peak summer season with pleasant weather (10–25°C) and clear Himalayan views. October to November offers stunning autumn colours. The monsoon season (July–September) is best avoided due to landslides. Rohtang Pass is typically open from May to November. We recommend warm clothing even in summer for South Indian travellers.

Rohtang Pass is typically open from May to November, with the road cleared by BRO after winter snow. It's usually closed December to April due to heavy snowfall. However, the Atal Tunnel (opened in 2020) — the world's longest highway tunnel above 10,000 ft — is open year-round and provides an alternative Rohtang/Lahaul experience even in winter. Rohtang requires a government permit (limited daily entries) which we pre-arrange. If Rohtang is closed, we substitute with Atal Tunnel + Sissu Valley excursion which is equally spectacular.

Since Dindigul is tropical, you'll need to pack warm clothes that you may not regularly own. For winter (Dec–Feb): heavy woolens, thermals, down jackets, snow boots, gloves, mufflers, and ear caps — these can also be bought or rented cheaply in Shimla/Manali Mall Road. For summer (Mar–Jun): layered clothing, light woolens, and a windproof jacket for Rohtang Pass. Always carry sun cream (high altitude = strong UV), sunglasses, and comfortable walking shoes. We provide a detailed packing list upon booking and our Tamil-speaking guide helps with local jacket/boot rental at the best prices.

Absolutely! Shimla Manali is one of India's most family-friendly destinations. Children love snow activities at Kufri and Solang Valley, horse riding, and the ropeway rides. For seniors, we customize a relaxed itinerary — Shimla's Mall Road is flat and easy for walking, and Manali sightseeing doesn't require strenuous trekking. We provide comfortable SUVs with ample legroom, hotels with lift/heating, and ensure slow-paced travel with ample rest stops. Note: Rohtang Pass (3,978m altitude) may not be suitable for seniors with heart/respiratory conditions — we offer alternative lower-altitude experiences.

Yes! All packages are fully customizable. Popular extensions include Dharamshala & McLeod Ganj (Dalai Lama's residence), Dalhousie & Khajjiar (Mini Switzerland of India), Chandigarh city tour (Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake), Amritsar & Golden Temple, Kasol & Tosh (backpacker paradise), and Spiti Valley (for adventure enthusiasts). We also offer special honeymoon packages with private cottage stays, candlelight dinners, and couple spa treatments. Group packages for corporate teams and college groups available. Contact our Dindigul branch at Kr Pushpam Complex, Aarthi Theater Road, or WhatsApp +91 7708894141.
